IMSA is an auto racing series. It had an existing set of Xamarin.Forms mobile apps and Windows apps, built by an outside firm, that needed updating before the next racing season.
We worked directly with IMSA’s production and media team and with their IT team to update the apps, and deployed them in time to test before the season started.
Ready for race day
Live video has to hold up when everyone at the track opens the app at once. We worked with the back-end and front-end web teams to test video streaming under simulated load, then flew to the tracks at Daytona and Atlanta to test the app during real peak usage.
What we did
- Added analytics tracking
- Added user sign-in with Gigya
- Added support for new race series and manufacturers
- Fixed broken iOS and Android notifications in Azure
- Fixed bugs across the iOS, Android, Windows Mobile and Windows desktop apps
- Deployed the apps to all four app stores
- Load-tested video streaming with the back-end and front-end web teams
- Tested on site at Daytona and Atlanta during peak usage
Who else was involved
Another team built the original app and maintains the current version. The back end and website were handled by other teams.
